On Friday evening I visited the Enamoured: 80 Years of Revlon exhibition held at the London Film Museum in Covent Garden. The exhibition had been created to celebrate 80 years of Revlon as an iconic beauty brand and to portray the story behind its incredible success over eight decades. Showcasing exclusive Revlon artefacts the exhibition explored the development of the brand through the years with advertisements and products dating back to the 1930's.
'Architecture Of An Empire' | Founder Charles Revson
Some of Revlon's earliest print campaigns | 'Revlon Red', 1988
'Drip Dresses' | 'Lips & Tips'
'Fire and Ice' campaign, 1952 | Revlon nail enamels
Rita Ora, a Revlon client | 'Cherry'
'Revolutionary'
A history lesson like no other, the exhibition really emphasised the influence Revlon had on women since it was discovered in 1932 by Charles Revson. It was so interesting to see that the glamorous and inspiring Audrey Hepburn was once a face of the brand and the story behind the oh so famous 'Red Sole' of Christian Louboutin was really unexpected.
Unique art installations gave an added edge to the showcase from an acrylic nail disco ball to an over sized varnish bottle made up of over 2,000 Revlon polishes although my favourite had to be 'Baton Rouge' (below) made of hundreds of resin lipsticks.
''Baton Rouge'
Unfortunately the exhibition only ran over four days, ending today, so if you were lucky enough to visit it this weekend I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
