We're half way into Lockdown 3.0, the zoom meetings have continued and the pyjamas have stayed on. Another thing that hasn't changed is feeling uninspired at lunch time. Whether it's left overs from the night before or a quick grab and go from M&S, it's become a habit to have a bog standard lunch. And so, I set myself the task of finding sandwich stops in my area to munch upon local delights.
The Dusty Knuckle Bakery
Abbot St, Dalston, London E8 3DP
The Dusty Knuckle is located in the heart of Dalston, tucked away on Abbot Street. This unique local business trains young offenders, allowing them to develop professional skills and responsibilities, setting them up for a new life in society. Pre-pandemic, Dusty welcomed East Londoners to dine in it's buzzing cafe, offering breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as soups and salads. You'll also be sure to find yourself in an eager queue for their freshly baked bread and pastries to go. During lockdown, they have offered an online order for collection service, I went for the Chicken Caesar sandwich which was delicious. Nestled between fresh focaccia bread is roasted chicken, gem lettuce, creme fraiche, anchovy and caper dressing with shaved parmesan - with an added crunch of chicken skin. This is definitely at the pricier end of the scale when it comes to a sarnie but it was excellent quality and full of flavour - filling too!

Three Sheets
510b Kingsland Rd, Dalston, London E8 4AB
Once again, Three Sheets have kept their doors open to offer food and drink to go during lockdown. This month they have introduced a series with guest chefs, bringing East Londoners a new sandwich each week. First on the menu, Fried smoked Haddock with pickled cucumber and Langoustine mayo which I had the pleasure of devouring. It was absolutely delicious and beats a fish finger sandwich any day. As well as these weekly delights, you can enjoy a classic Ploughman's, salmon buns or a hearty toasty. I'm definitely keen to see what new additions will be available over the coming weeks!

Snackbar X Farmshop
20 Dalston Lane, Dalston, London E8 3AZ
I featured Snackbar in my Lockdown Coffee Fix post but this time I was here for some munch. With an adventurous menu of Asian-inspired small dishes and snacks, I was keen to try something new. I went for their signature Kimcheeze Toastie, a step up from your average cheese on toast. Sandwiched between sourdough is a molten combination of montgomery cheddar, blue cheese and kimchi. This toastie was yummy for sure, but was quite rich in flavour - I'm also not a massive fan of blue cheese. I'm eager to try the Dorito fried chicken sandwich, so I will most definitely be returning. Snackbar continues to offer food and drink to go as well as order and collect.

Here are some other spots that are currently offering a limited sandwich menu or aren't currently serving due to restrictions - but are definitely worth visiting post lockdown!
