Lockdown Coffee Fix

Tuesday 24 November 2020

It's just over a week until Lockdown 2.0 is lifted (hurray) and I've spent the last fortnight exploring local coffee spots to track down the perfect cuppa joe! During this time, it can be so easy to reach for a simple Nespresso pod or pop down to the local Pret, but I have been so ignorant to ignore the local baristas of my neighbourhood. If you live within radius of the Dalston area, make sure to check these places out!

Three Sheets
510b Kingsland Rd, Dalston, London E8 4AB

Voted one of the 50 Best Bars in the world, Three Sheets is currently serving coffee, pastries and hearty toasties for the lockdown period. This will be their final week offering morning and afternoon perks, so make sure to pay them a visit. They are also selling bunches of flowers by Hackney based florist, My Lady Garden.

Brunswick East
Unit 3D Stamford Works, Gillett Street, Dalston N16 8JH

This Australian inspired brunch spot is tucked away in Gillett Street. Throughout lockdown, it has continued to offer coffee and food to go as well and delightful artisan bakes. Once normality returns, this place also makes a great working space for those who WFH.

Allpress Espresso Roastery and Cafe
55 Dalston Lane, Dalston, London E8 2NG

Located on Dalston Lane, this local discovery took me by surprise. It's much bigger than I expected and makes a great post lockdown workspace. You can also purchase their house blend to enjoy at home!

Snackbar X Farmshop
20 Dalston Lane, Dalston, London E8 3AZ

This place has been on my list to visit for some time. Snackbar serves a range of unusual and excellent Asian-inspired breakfast, lunch, and brunch plates. They are currently offering home delivery and are open for coffee to go. Just a heads up, they make a pretty good iced oat milk latte.

Violet Cakes
47 Wilton Way, London E8 3ED

A friend of mine recommended Violet to me when I moved East, but it's taken me 2 years to see what all the fuss was about. This cake shop is certainly popular with the locals, with an eager queue at it's door. As well as delicious homemade cakes and bread, you can indulge in some damn good coffee - by far the best I've had this lockdown.
