Laurel's on the Roof

A perfect spot for a heatwave in the city, Laurel's on the Roof is the latest hot spot in Shoreditch. Located on the rooftop of the Mondrian hotel, Laurel's has been inspired by 1970's Los Angeles complete with disco balls and a swimming pool. Whether it's lounging in the sun with a cocktail in hand or a light lunch looking over the cityscape, this place is a vibe. With views of the city and good music, Laurel's is a sweet escape from reality.
The menu has a real Cali influence, bringing a taste of LA to London. There is a great selection of nibbles and small plates to share, I highly rate the cod tacos and the tuna tostadas and if you love your seafood, get the Malibu shrimp cocktail too. Everything from the flatbread to the heirloom summer tomato salad was gorgeous and the sunset fries are dangerously delicious.
Despite getting through most of the small plates, we still had room for more! For my main, I opted for the California lobster roll which was super fresh and light. We enjoyed a few cocktail throughout lunch, my favourite was definitely the Oaxaca Express - a twist on a classic Espresso martini with a hint of coconut and banana.
