Twilight at London Zoo

Monday 18 July 2022

For our 5 year anniversary, I decided to surprise my fiancée and organise something a little different from our usual dinner dates in the city. With the gorgeous weather we've been having, I figured it'd be fun to do something outside and that's when I realised that Twilight visits were back at London Zoo. These are adult only evenings in which you can discover the zoo after hours with less crowds, enjoy a range of street food offerings, live DJ's and sip on a pint whilst you wander the grounds.

Given the occasion, I booked us a special treat. We sat down to a champagne experience over at Penguin Beach which was just lovely. You're allocated a half an hour slot to enjoy a glass of bubbles in a private area, whilst overlooking the penguins diving and swimming in the water below.

Throughout the evening we walked around the zoo, but unfortunately we didn't see as many animals as we'd hoped. I think with the heat and time of day, most animals were sheltered keeping cool or sleeping. We still made the most of the evening tucking into food and drinking in the sunshine. The live music performances were also a great addition to the night.

If you're thinking to visit after work, I'd definitely try to get there for 6pm when the evening sessions start just so you have enough time to do everything and get a better chance at seeing the animals before they go to bed. There's a number of food vendors and bars so you won't find yourself queuing for too long, and if you're more in touch with your inner child, there's face painting available too.

Twilight at London Zoo comes to a close this week and falls on Thursday and Friday nights only, so make sure to book your ticket!
