Barboun
61-67 Great Eastern St, London EC2A 3HU

Shoreditch based, Barboun is East London's newest offering for Eastern Mediterranean  cuisine. Nestled within The Hart hotel, this Turkish-Cypriot restaurant and bar makes a sweet date night hangout. The interior is sophisticated with warm lighting, marble tables and brass accents with the addition of olive trees for that added touch of the med.

The dinner menu has a wonderful selection of small sharing plates as well as wood fired mangal dishes. To start, we opted for the cured salmon (served with kumquat, honey and soy), beetroot fritters with whipped feta and Dolma (sun-dried aubergine, burnt butter, garlic yoghurt). Each dish was vibrant with flavour, the salmon in particular was gorgeous.

For mains, we enjoyed succulent short rib and lamb rump with a serving of batata harra (Crispy potatoes, herbs, lime) and Greek salad. The wine list has an excellent selection of Turkish wines and the cocktail menu has a delightful list of short and long serves to sip whilst you dine - I highly recommend the Merci, a concoction of vodka, basil and champagne.
