Food, drink and music? That's my kind of festival line up! Two weekends ago I attended two nights at Pub in the Park festival in Marlow. With eight locations in the UK, Pub in the Park is the biggest food and music festival. Each year the festival celebrates everything there is to love about a British pub; the delicious food and drink, award-winning chefs and a feel good music line up.
To wet the whistle, we enjoyed bubbles at Champagne Piaff; celebrated Pimms o'clock at their giant teapot and sipped on divine wine from the Slurp wine bar.
DAY ONE:
With 16 pub menus to choose from, we were spoilt for choice. To start, I wandered over to The Kentish Hare who were serving up delicious Sizzling King Prawn Tacos along with tempting tater tots dressed with chipotle mayo. Later that evening, I stopped by The Churchill Arms for their incredible Lobster arancini - an easy 10/10 and the best dish of the weekend by far. I also had a taste of the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli from Café Murano which was so authentic in flavour.
DAY TWO
For my second helping of pub delicacies, I went for the BBQ Glazed Brisket with Chimichurri from Hand & Flowers. Admittedly, this didn't quite live up to my expectations but needless to say the meat was cooked to perfection. With a small hole to fill, I opted for some Crispy Fried Squid from The Mariners by Paul Ainsworth which was the perfect accompaniment to a glass of Pinot Grigio.
We couldn't have asked for better weather, we definitely lucked out given the time of year. On the Friday night we enjoyed a delightful gin river cruise at sunset. We got to taste several offerings from Mr Hobbs gin with the beautiful views of the Thames under the orange sky. The Rhubarb and Ginger gin was my favourite of the selection - a must try.
