If you're a dedicated doughnut fan like me, you'll have heard of Crosstown. A favourite of mine for years and years, this London born doughnut joint offers hand crafted, fresh sourdough doughnuts available in a variety of unique and tempting flavours. It's my go to for a sugar fix and their doughnut boxes always make a sweet gift for special occasions and office birthdays.
In addition to their glorious doughnuts, Crosstown have introduced ice cream, inspired by their doughnut flavours, as well as freshly baked cookies. You can find all these in their stores, trucks and even their newly launched trikes. Over the weekend, I visited their Spitalfields truck which, luckily for me, is relatively local. Unfortunately, the ice cream trike was closed but I was still able to enjoy all the delicious delights of Crosstown.
It was a glorious day in the city and the heat wave was the perfect excuse for a scoop! I went for a classic pistachio (ve), however there is a variety of flavours to choose from including Peanut butter & Blackcurrant, Roasted Banana, Strawberries & Cream and Pimms sorbet - a real Summer cooler.
I got a 12 pack box to take home, with a mix of doughnuts and cookies. I chose a mix of doughnut flavours, including some of my all time favourites - Chocolate Truffle, Homemade Raspberry Jam, Peanut butter & Blackberry compote (ve) and Matcha. Along with some of Crosstown's more fruitful flavours - Mango with Chipotle chilli (ve), Lychee & Raspberry (ve), Lime & Coconut (ve). For the cookies, I went for a simple chocolate chip and peanut butter and chocolate. This was actually my first try of the Crosstown cookies and I must say they are as moreish and delicious as the doughnuts.
Crosstown have undoubtably made their stamp across the capital and you're never too far from one of their branches. Whether you're North or South of the river, you're sure to spot one. And for those who are Vegan, Crosstown has a large selection of egg and dairy free options on the menu.
