A day by the sea was top of my post lockdown list. Didn't matter what the weather, I haven't had the pleasure of both the sight and sound of the sea for 18 months. We decided to take a day off and jump on a train to Deal, a small coastal town in Kent.
As soon as we arrived we headed to Walmer Castle & Gardens, just a short taxi away from the station. Although the castle itself wasn't accessible, the gardens were just gorgeous with 8 acres of beautiful grounds. We then headed back towards the main town, walking along the seafront.
Stopping off at the King's Head pub, we sipped on a pint in the sunshine before making our way to our lunch reservation at The Rose - a delightful spot for a bite to eat in Deal.
We ended the day with a walk along the pier, taking in the last of the sea air and blue horizon.
