Acme Fire Cult
Abbot St, London E8 2LX

Tucked away in the heart of Dalston, Acme Fire Cult is a live-fire concept offering flame cooked dishes and perfectly cool pints from neighbours 40ft brewery. In the Summer, diners can enjoy the open terrace deck at the front of the restaurant and in the Winter, snuggle under shaggy blankets or sit in the cosy interior.

With ten beer taps, you can sample a selection of thirst quenching lagers, IPA's and pilsners. I tried the Acme dark lager, a schwarzbier with a malt bill of chocolate and dark malts with subtle complexity from the ancho chilies.

We ordered a few small plates to start, including the padron peppers, burrata with Winter tomatoes and coal roast leeks, pistachio Romesco - which we expected to be hot but was served cold. Each dish was full of unique flavour and deliciously complimented a refreshing beer.

For mains, I went for the Dorset crab on toast with bone marrow, salted cabbage and jalapeño verde whilst my fiancé opted for the longhorn Bavette. The crab had a beautiful texture, but I found the bone marrow quite overpowering. The Bavette however, was stunning and melted in the mouth, and the smokey flavours were wonderful.

I'm certainly interested to see what the menu has to offer for the Summer, when there's nothing better than BBQ'd meats and freshly poured pints!
