What better way to spend a rainy day than to tuck into some delicious, vibrant South American delights. Last weekend, I visited Guasa - a Venezuelan street food joint that specialises in Arepa buns and rum cocktails. Their brand new spot is located in the new Design District Canteen, located in Greenwich in South East London.

A quick jump on the tube and we were ready for a Venezuelan street feast! The menu is full of choice, with several Arepa buns and bowls to choose from as well as a selection of delicious sides.

We went for the Buffalo Beef Arepa bun - shredded buffalo beef bavette with grated cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and gherkins and the Two Little Pigs Arepa bun - roasted pork collar, crunchy pork crackling with grilled goats cheese and fresh coriander. Both buns were succulent and full of flavour. The meats were so tender and the Arepa was soft with a crunch.

We also ordered a couple of sides to share. It was recommended that we tried the Yuca Frita - crispy cassava fries served with Guasa (avocado dip) and hot sauce. These complimented the buns really well and were super tasty dipped into the sauces. The Cheesy Sweet Dough Balls were irresistible and tasted even better with Guava sauce. The combination of sweet and savoury flavours works so well!

By the end of our meal, we were pretty stuffed - corn based dishes are super filling but we enjoyed every single bit of it. The staff at Guasa were so friendly and helpful,  shout out to Diego who made our visit awesome!
