PR INVITE: Sycamore Vino Cucina

Last week, I was invited to a complimentary meal at Sycamore - an Italian restaurant residing in the new 5* Middle Eight Hotel, located between Holborn and Covent Garden. Following restrictions, this luxury hotel re-opened its doors in May and offers stunning rooms and suites along with authentic Italian dining and an impressive cocktail bar.

Walking in I was taken aback by the grand interior of the hotel with its modern, contemporary design - you'll need to stop for a moment to admire it all. We made our way to the dining area, where we were greeted and shown to our table. The decor of the restaurant itself is warm and ambient, and with only a handful of other diners around us, our experience was very intimate.

From the menu inspired by North Italian chefs, we ordered several sharing plates to start - including succulent Puglian olives, burrata and beef carpaccio with truffle aioli. All enjoyed with a refreshing Limoncello Spritz! The burrata wasn't the 'ooziest' I've had but needless to say it was deliciously combined with juicy, seasonal tomatoes. The beef was gorgeous and was generously served, perfect to split between the two of us.

For mains, we both opted for pasta however there are a number of meat and fish dishes, as well as hand-made pizza, for you to choose from. I ordered a classic Cacio e Pepe whilst my other half went for the Pappardelle al ragu. Both dishes were flavoursome and fresh, enjoyed even better with a bottle of Albariño.

Of course, an Italian dining feast wouldn't be complete without Tiramisu to finish. The dessert was decadent and had the perfect balance of creaminess and richness.

We made our way to the bar area to drink the last of our wine, sitting back with the live DJ set, which was a pleasant end to our evening. The bar itself is sophisticated with a beautiful ceiling decorated with faux sycamore leaves.

Huge thanks again to Middle Eight for welcoming us, we had a delightful time. If you're looking for a quality dining experience in the city, I'd highly recommend Sycamore. The set up meets it's 5* status, the food is divine and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive.
