On Father's Day weekend, we spent a day at the beautiful Hever Castle in Kent. This was my first visit and it was absolutely enchanting. The castle itself is the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, dating back 700 years, and is steeped with history. We wandered through the castle along with an audio tour, discovering the grand rooms, narrow halls and winding stair wells within. The decor of the rooms have been preserved, capturing the beauty of the castle as it was centuries ago.
Ivy and rose bushes crawl across the outer walls of the castle, surrounded by a tranquil moat. The gardens and grounds are breathtaking, with stunning flower beds, water falls, pergolas and a large boating lake.
Hever Castle makes a wonderful day out with the family and with a selection of Summer events in the coming months, it's a delightful attraction for a British staycation.
