Brat
4 Redchurch St, London E1 6JL
Brat has been on my radar for years and at last I had the pleasure of visiting. We'd been gifted a voucher for our engagement last year, and we decided to book ourselves in for a late Sunday lunch for belated celebrations. Located on Redchurch Street in the heart of Shoreditch, Brat is a Basque-inspired dining hot spot with a menu of Spanish influence.
As we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the lovely FOH team and the warm, smoky aroma of the wood fire ovens. We were seated by the open kitchen, where we could admire the chefs at work. The atmosphere in the room was vibrant yet relaxed, perfect for a slow afternoon of dining. To start we sipped on champagne and shared several small plates; including the chorizo, spider crab toast and the lamb chop. Each dish was fresh with flavour, the meats were succulent and the presentation was excellent.
For our main we decided to go for the roast duck rice and John Dory, accompanied by delicious roasted greens and smoked potatoes. The duck was divine, definitely my favourite dish of the lot. The fish melts in the mouth and falls off the bone, and we washed it all down with a bottle of the most gorgeous Vinho Verde.
Unfortunately we didn't have room left for dessert, however I couldn't help but salivate at the freshly baked Burnt basque Cheesecakes that were lined up on the counter!
